Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the Global Positioning System (GPS)

play critical roles in 9-1-1 and other government agencies.  Effective management of everything from terrorist attacks to natural disasters requires rapid access to information from a variety of sources.  A well designed GIS system will provide much of that information.  The intent of this page is to pass along terms, techniques and examples of good system design along with useful GIS/GPS links.
